Project Description

The General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) — the state authority responsible for managing and operating Iraq's commercial port infrastructure — engaged Sealion to conduct a professional underwater berth inspection and survey program at one of the key commercial berths under its management in Basra. The inspection was required to establish a current condition baseline for the berth structure as part of the GCPI's asset maintenance planning process. Sealion deployed its commercial diving team from the Basra branch office, conducting a systematic underwater survey of all structural elements including the berth piles, pile caps, underwater concrete structures, fender systems, and seabed conditions at the berth face. All findings were documented with underwater CCTV footage and photographic records, and a comprehensive technical condition report was produced — identifying areas of deterioration, corrosion, or structural concern, with prioritized maintenance recommendations for the GCPI engineering team to action. The inspection was completed on schedule and the technical deliverables were received positively by the client's engineering division as a detailed, actionable record of berth condition.
