Project Description

Aqaba Thermal Power Station — a major power generation facility serving the national electricity grid of Jordan — engaged Sealion to carry out repair and maintenance works on their critical seawater cooling infrastructure, including marine intake tanks and the associated pipeline systems that supply seawater for the station's cooling process. The scope included internal and external inspection of tank structures, identification and repair of corrosion damage, steel plate renewal in areas where wall thickness had fallen below minimum design tolerances, pipeline joint inspection and resealing, and a full coating restoration program on the tank interior surfaces to extend service life and protect against further corrosion attack. The project required coordination with the station's operations team to manage the outage windows for each tank — ensuring that the power generation process was not interrupted while repair works were in progress on individual cooling circuit elements. All work was executed in compliance with the station's safety management system, Sealion's ISO 9001:2015 quality procedures, and the relevant engineering standards for industrial storage and pipeline systems.

Key Achievements

  • Internal and external tank structural inspection and condition assessment completed
  • Corroded steel plate sections renewed to restore structural integrity and design thickness
  • Pipeline joint inspection, resealing and pressure testing completed without leaks
  • Full interior tank coating restoration applied to extend service life
  • Repair works executed within planned outage windows — no generation interruptions
  • All works completed in compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and station safety management system
