Project Description

Jordan Phosphate Mines Co. — one of the largest phosphate exporters in the world and a major operator at the Port of Aqaba — engaged Sealion to execute a multi-scope project across their marine and shore infrastructure. The project comprised three distinct work packages. The first was a comprehensive underwater inspection and maintenance program for the berth structures used for phosphate loading operations, including survey of the berth piles, inspection of the fender systems, condition assessment of the quay wall, and cathodic protection status evaluation — all documented with full CCTV photography and video. The second work package was a navigation channel cleaning operation to remove accumulated sediment, debris, and obstructions that were reducing the effective depth and maneuverability margin for phosphate bulk carriers approaching the berth. The third package involved cargo tank cleaning and repair services for shore-based storage and transfer tanks at the facility, requiring specialized cleaning procedures to remove phosphate residues and chemical scale before structural inspection and repair works were carried out.
